Kiayes Uddin - The Kiss in Bollywood Film Posters
The work re-presents research into the importance of the kiss in Bollywood. The Posters depict actors and actresses engaging in or about to engage in a passionate kiss. A common factor in most Bollywood films is the theme of romance, which plays with the viewer’s emotions and which many audiences can empathise with.
Sukhjinder Singh - The Transfused Kiss
The “Kiss” has been a theme of many songs over the years and here I am showcasing a medley of songs using lyrics associated directly with the “kiss” or the act of “kissing”.
The exhibit uses songs from the 60’s and 70’s including artists such as Elvis Presley, The Supremes, Ray Charles and The Beatles, to name a few. The specific lyrics have been extracted from songs and brought together and composited on vinyl.
Rimanpreet Sandhu - International Kiss
A kiss is something anyone can understand communicating more meaning than simply words alone can. It can convey emotion, from wanting someone to simply greeting someone; wether its our ‘first kiss’ or kissing a new born baby the kiss is an important part of our life experience; both of the above circumstances are very different but they both use a kiss to express the emotion felt in that moment.
Rebecca Rudge - Kiss in Song Lyrics
Music often uses references to a kiss to convey the start of a journey of love between two people; In some senses there is a suggestion that a feeling of affection towards a special someone is not official until its been ‘sealed with a kiss’. A kiss is such a universal thing that every person can relate to, hence the reason why we can sometimes get lost in a daydream when we hear song lyrics about a kiss; it can capture something that we all have the capacity to feel deep inside.
Sam Percival - The Kiss Interview Book
For some people, a Kiss can say a thousand words without saying anything at all, but for all of us it is a connection with another being and for that moment it can transcend all else.
A simple gesture that can change the world. For this book, I wanted to portray a realistic view on a kiss and how it is viewed through the eyes of many different people, By exploring personal thoughts and ideas on what a kiss means to people, I have begun to discover a deeper connection and meaning for those who kiss and have been kissed.
Rebecca Murphy - A Century of Lips
Women have been enhancing their lips, in an attempt to make them appear more voluptous, alluring and kissable for centuries. This short animation will focus on how lip styles and make-up trends have changed and evolved over the decades. Marie-Jaqueline Muzhuzha - Kiss in Romance Fiction
Considering the content of romance fiction, we would usually anticipate being almost overwhelmed by the regular occurrence of kissing. The act of cutting out all instances of the word kiss occurring in four romance books, is to physically evidence just how much kissing is involved; it is not practiced as much as maybe expected.
Does this simply mean that the act of kissing in popular fiction is not as regular an act as presumed? Or is there more to romance than the meeting of lips?
Ryan Mallen - The Guide to Greeting
Because of the amount of different greetings nowadays it is easy to get mixed up; work displayed is inspired by on going changing culture and the resulting affects on the way we greet each other. The printed book uses an alternative approach by setting out to highlight differences in contemporary conventions and greeting practice whilst evoking some of the graphic formality of the Victorian era.
Kirandeep Kaur - The Forgotten Making Affection of The Kiss
Researching the graphic language of affection I became interested in the different ways in which the kiss is conveyed through the immediate text symbols of emojis. The emoji kit is a means of re-creating the instant symbol of affection using the time consuming and reflective practice of embroidery; does the replacement of analogue, craft based communication with instant messaging represent a loss of the essence and definition of the Kiss signature?
This embroidery kit sets out to show how far we have come in ‘sending’ The Kiss, from hand stitching handkerchiefs using a timeline of effort and affection to the touch button instant emoji.
Hubing Li - Thousand Years of Kiss
This work uses the form of traditional paper-cut art, using positive red paper, cut or carved openwork pattern, and takes as its series theme "Kissing Flowers". Sources of inspiration are taken from the works of ancient Chinese stories, some of which have become myths. Butterflies Love Flowers (Like Romeo and Juliet a tragic love story) Tanabata Festival (Chinese Valentine's Day July 7th), and White Snake Story (Describing the love story of man and a practicing adult snake).
Adrian Hewlett - They’re Not The Kissing Type
Harriet Fraser - The Absence of Affection
Every day, airports and train stations see more genuine acts of love than any church or wedding hall. Or so I thought, so everyone thought. However, after weeks documenting the subject of ‘The Kiss’, it became apparent that public displays of affection are hard to come by, even at airports and stations. It was due to this, I renamed my project ‘The Absence of Affection’ and began to document how rarely people show affection in public.
Zoe Edwards - Sweet Sixteen and Never Been Kissed
This work re presents the potential sequence of events following a first kiss using visual references to the chaos theory; every kiss can trigger a multiple of unique scenarios, feelings and outcomes from one simple moment shared between two people. Dani Bearman - The First Kiss
Tegan Bate- - Do You Still Want A Kiss?
Kissing is everywhere; everyone loves to kiss; but does everyone love a mouth full of bacteria and infection? I think not. This work has been inspired by all the awful negativity surrounding the much-loved kiss. I decided to display this awfulness in quite an ironic form, using the visual language of lipstick names. So often lipstick is called things such as ‘brave’ which hardly ties in with the lips so hopefully my work portrays a sense of truthfulness, which is often concealed.
