Sam Percival - The Kiss Interview Book

For some people, a Kiss can say a thousand words without saying anything at all, but for all of us it is a connection with another being and for that moment it can transcend all else.

A simple gesture that can change the world. For this book, I wanted to portray a realistic view on a kiss and how it is viewed through the eyes of many different people, By exploring personal thoughts and ideas on what a kiss means to people, I have begun to discover a deeper connection and meaning for those who kiss and have been kissed.

Rebecca Murphy - A Century of Lips

Women have been enhancing their lips, in an attempt to make them appear more voluptous, alluring and kissable for centuries. This short animation will focus on how lip styles and make-up trends have changed and evolved over the decades. Explore the different techniques used to achieve "the perfect pout", ranging from the Flapper girl's exaggerated cupid's bow, the soft pastel shades and drastic silver shimmers of the flower power era, through to current trends, which see's women taking extreme measures to achieve intense volume.

Marie-Jaqueline Muzhuzha - Kiss in Romance Fiction

Considering the content of romance fiction, we would usually anticipate being almost overwhelmed by the regular occurrence of kissing. The act of cutting out all instances of the word kiss occurring in four romance books, is to physically evidence just how much kissing is involved; it is not practiced as much as maybe expected.

Does this simply mean that the act of kissing in popular fiction is not as regular an act as presumed? Or is there more to romance than the meeting of lips?

Mills and Boon, well known for their romance fiction; have been a huge inspiration hence they were selected for this analysis.

Ryan Mallen - The Guide to Greeting

Because of the amount of different greetings nowadays it is easy to get mixed up; work displayed is inspired by on going changing culture and the resulting affects on the way we greet each other. The printed book uses an alternative approach by setting out to highlight differences in contemporary conventions and greeting practice whilst evoking some of the graphic formality of the Victorian era.

Kirandeep Kaur - The Forgotten Making Affection of The Kiss

Researching the graphic language of affection I became interested in the different ways in which the kiss is conveyed through the immediate text symbols of emojis. The emoji kit is a means of re-creating the instant symbol of affection using the time consuming and reflective practice of embroidery; does the replacement of analogue, craft based communication with instant messaging represent a loss of the essence and definition of the Kiss signature?

This embroidery kit sets out to show how far we have come in ‘sending’ The Kiss, from hand stitching handkerchiefs using a timeline of effort and affection to the touch button instant emoji.

Hubing Li - Thousand Years of Kiss

This work uses the form of traditional paper-cut art, using positive red paper, cut or carved openwork pattern, and takes as its series theme "Kissing Flowers". Sources of inspiration are taken from the works of ancient Chinese stories, some of which have become myths. Butterflies Love Flowers (Like Romeo and Juliet a tragic love story) Tanabata Festival (Chinese Valentine's Day July 7th), and White Snake Story (Describing the love story of man and a practicing adult snake).

Adrian Hewlett - They’re Not The Kissing Type

This exhibit explores boundaries between recognisable or established figures, pointing to people who in the real world would almost certainly not display affection towards each other because of contrasting political positions or conflicting views. A kind of forced affection is achieved by physical placement of name panels, the suggestion of kiss is subtle. The type used in this exhibit runs coherent with the names involved throughout the pieces hopefully helping the viewer visualise the two conflicting persons.
